Millefiori Dog Tags

While working for an Italian luxury brand, I travelled to Italy 5 times a year and on one of these trips I snuck away to Venice where I felt in love with the Island of Murano and it's history of glass blowing.  The intricate flowers and lively colours look like delicious Christmas candy. 

While at uni, our son told us they are non-binary, so in my worried mom fashion I wanted to create a jewelry would honour my child Juno.  An easy piece that combined traditional norms of masculine and feminine. 

These silver military dog tags created with millefiori beads became that piece of jewelry. 

Each piece is a solid weighty 925 sterling silver piece, handmade, painted and polished.  The tag is first layered with a unique background enamel then heated to melt to glass.  After several layers, the millefiori beads are fired last and blooms in its own way when heated to over 1400F - creating a new bouquet of flowers for each piece.  Why wear boring jewelry?
